Infantry. B1 Battle Droid. The B1 battle droid made up a large part of the Separatist Droid Army. They are physically identical to their predecessor the OOM series. The difference is that the B1 are simpler and less independant. Whilst this is a disadvantage the cheap Trade Federation try to minimise costs and increase their profits. They were the cheapest and therefore the most expendable to the Trade Federation. They were programmed to eliminate their enemy through sheer numbers rather than skill or tactics unlike the Grand Army of the Republic's Clone Troopers. B1's are connected wirelessly to a control ship so they ackowledge their commands as a group. This is a great disadvantage as seen in the Battle of Naboo, as once the command ship was destroyed all droid units deactivated. However after the Battle of Naboo, to avoid a deja vu scenario, many droids were fitted with independant thinking and programming and so developed different personalities and voices as frequently seen throughut Attack of the Clones, The Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith. They are equipped with E-5 blaster rifles, blaster pistols and thermal detonators, although some specilised classes are equipped with rocket launchers, shotguns and explosive packs. B2 Super Battle Droids. The Super Battle Droids are an upgraded version of the original B1. They were designed by the Techno Union. They are more heavily equipped and have stronger armour to stand against clone troopers. Another problem with the B1 is that it relied entirely on a droid control ship. If the ship was destroyed, the droids immediately became inactive. The B2 however did not rely on a droid control ship and showed greater lengths of independane. Like the B1's B2's developed the ability to show emoitions. They are particularly aggressive fighters, willing to knock down allied troops to take down the enemy itself seen in the Battle of Geonosis. They are more durable and generally more intelligent as they could easily take light blaster shots. They were equipped with in-built double laser and a small rocket launcher. There have been several variations, including where some B2's have been equiped with jetpacks and even flamethrowers. Droideka. The Droideka is the most dangerous infantry unit for the C.I.S. Created by the Trade Federation it was favoured by many due to its firpower and resileince. However they were the most expensive droid and were seen only moderatley throughout the Clone Wars. Before the Invasion of Naboo, droidekas were also connected to a droid control ship, but like the B1's many individual droids were given independant thinking therefore becoming much more lethal. Although slows on their four pincer like legs, they could configure into a ball shape and soar around the battlefield with amaing speed. This however left it vulnerable to incoming fire as a droidekas armour was weak very simply because it was not needed. Once a droideka had come out of ball mode it could deploy a shield which would make it invincible to every enemy infantry weapon. Only a rocket launcher or an AT-TE's cannon has been known to penetrate it's shield. Along with its twin blaster cannon on each arm, the droideka is feared throughout the galaxy, even among the most powerful Jedi Masters. Like B2's Droideka's are seen in variations one of the most common being the grappler droideka. IG-100 MagnaGuard. The Magnaguard's were created for protection to the C.I.S's top members including Count Dooku and General Grevious. They were the most intelligent of all battle droids and were the only droid that could continue fighting without their head due to the fact they had a back up photoreceptor (optical lenses or "eyes") on their chest. They were first brought in after Grevious had been fitted with a droid shell. To combat Jedi, the General had their combat memory wiped, and replaced with the knowledge of all seven Jedi combat methods. They were commonly seen carrying electrostaffs made of lightsaber resilient phrik alloy, although some were seen carrying Bulldog Rocket Launching Rifle (RLR), canisters of Neuro Poision and even RD-4 grenade launcher better known as a radiation launcher.
